90th Anniversary of SSA: Olinsky Law Group Reviews Agency’s Current Goals and Evolution

SSA 90th Anniversary, Olinsky Law Group Review.

On August 14th, 2025, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act. Through the past 90 years, SSA has created and reworked many of its programs, but even through the changes, the agency has continued to publicize its goals of remaining committed and dedicated to the American people. As SSA recognizes this commemorative year, Olinsky Law Group is recognizing the milestone anniversary by reviewing the agency’s evolution and more.

In 1935, the Social Security Act was officially signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, establishing a federal protection for many Americans in need of assistance, including elderly and unemployed individuals. The original mission of this Act was to create financial security and pay benefits to retirees over 65 years of age. To efficiently administer and implement these programs, the Social Security Board was established, serving as a foundation for what would later become the Social Security Administration (SSA). In time, SSA has expanded its services to include a broader range of benefits, such as retirement, survivor and disability.

From the development of different types of benefits, to record keeping, SSA ultimately serves many imperative functions, as millions rely on their services. During the agency’s evolution, transformations have taken place, new strategies have developed, and several challenges have been encountered, yet SSA continues to publicize its primary goals, staying dedicated to the American people. According to SSA, their mission remains consistent with “delivering financial support, providing superior customer service, and ensuring information remains secure.”

Evidently, the program has been reworked since its inception and is constantly changing due to factors such as the cost-of-living adjustment and more. Even through the endless transformations during these 90 years, Social Security has served well over millions of individuals providing financial security, which is often life-changing for many. Aside from their goal of delivering financial support, the agency has presently commented on their current commitment to customer service through press releases and more, highlighting their efforts as an achievement. Most of the agency’s recent customer service highlights and metrics shared are related to the use of new artificial intelligence technology for phone calls and encouraging the use of online services, and although others would disagree, both of which SSA says are efficiently meeting customer needs. Despite the agency’s view surrounding customer service, many would consider this topic an ongoing concerning issue as waiting times persist and transparency has become limited, and as such, there are still expectations for improvements.

As a national disability firm, the Olinsky Law Group is no stranger to SSA, representing claimants at all levels of the determination process who are fighting to obtain benefits. The Olinsky Law Group team is determined to assist clients and help them achieve financial security, a mission that is evidently similar to one SSA proclaims.

Recognizing that there are several challenges endured throughout this complex process, the firm supports timely decision making and is dedicated to ensuring the disability program stays strong, protecting those in need. Achieving a milestone such as 90 years deserves recognition, and as the landmark anniversary approaches and more changes come about, the American people will remain hopeful in the program, as they continue to depend on SSA for financial stability. While acknowledging SSA and a milestone such as 90 years, it is important for disability representatives, including Olinsky Law Group, to highlight the future of Social Security, continuing to support the millions of people that rely on their services. Looking ahead, the Olinsky Law Group will continue fighting and procuring favorable results for disability claimants, achieving one of the team’s many goals – helping provide financial security to clients in need.
